About the Mineral Lake Fishing Derby
Since 1993, the Mineral Lake Fishing Derby has been a cherished tradition and the Mineral Lake Lions Club’s most important fundraiser. Over the years, the event was proudly hosted by both the Mineral Lake Lions Club and Mineral’s American Legion Post 177 before coming full circle back to the Mineral Lake Lions Club.
In Washington state, the lowland lake trout fishing season typically opens on the fourth Saturday in April. In 2025, that falls on April 26 at 12:01, which marks the start of the Mineral Lake Fishing Derby. This year’s Derby will conclude at 11:00 AM on Sunday, April 27.
During this weekend—also known as Opening Weekend or Derby Weekend—the entire town of Mineral unites to offer a diverse lineup of events and activities centered around the Derby. This celebration not only captures the essence of our small-town charm but also draws in local and statewide anglers while nurturing a strong sense of community spirit.
Join us for a weekend of fishing, fun, and camaraderie at this time-honored celebration, held at the Mineral Lake Lions Den Campground, 113 E Front St, Mineral, WA.
